Photo Tip: Closest thing to camera appears the biggest

Photo Tip: When taking a photo remember that the closest thing to the camera will appear the largest in the photograph.

It's true! When turning 3D objects into one dimensional this happens.

So ladies...whatever is your hot button when you look at yourself in a photo, push it back or put it back away from the camera.  I have heard it all, "my arms look big", "oh my hips!", "I don't like my legs". Position yourself so that the part you want to appear smaller goes further away from the camera.  Grab your girlfriends & lean forward at the waist a tad so your bottom half is further away from the camera & your heads are closer.  Give it a try next time you're in front of the camera & let me know if it made a difference.

This also applies to taking photos of your babies, put the lens closer to their head then say, their feet.  If you can angle your camera a tad towards their head, it'll make a big difference in how they appear. Create the perspective you want people to see.

Welcome! Thanks for reading...My name is Amanda, my inspiration for photography stems from the desire to capture my daughter and her friend Ellia, the "Two Roses".  They have their own language, watching the moments they share created this yearning to preserve these raw times in their lives.

Now I am thoroughly enjoying capturing moments in time for others and hoping to give families photos that will cause them to "pause", invoke emotions deep inside & stir up treasured memories.
